Evert Bisschop Boele
Prof. Dr. Evert Bisschop Boele studied music education in Maastricht and Ethnomusicology in Amsterdam. He holds a PhD (social sciences) from Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen. He worked as a music teacher, a curriculum advisor, and at various positions in higher music education. He is presently professor (‘lector’) Arts Education at Hanze Research Art & Society/ Prince Claus Conservatoire, Hanzehogeschool Groningen, where he leads the interdisciplinary Research Group Arts Education. He also is endowed professor Culture Participation at the Erasmus School of History, Culture & Communication ESHCC of Erasmus University Rotterdam. He works a.o. on idiocultural music education, and currently carries out an ethnographic study of a Dutch shanty choir in which he sings every Tuesday night.
